I'm Having Twins - Review

"I'm Having Twins"
by Paris Morris is a book about a 3 year old contemplating how life will be different when her twin siblings arrive. What is really impressive is that the author is all of 9 years of age! She wrote the My Twins series through recollection of her real life experiences.

In "I'm Having Twins", Paris walks us through the life of a doted upon three year old who will soon be sharing the limelight with not just 1, but rather 2 siblings. The book begins with news of the twins and ends with a trip to the hospital (other books are available if you want to find out what happens after than!).

In "I'm Having Twins", Paris shares snippets of her day at home with mom, activities with dad and her grandparents. In between she shares how she is feeling about bringing the twins home - excitement, anxiety, and pride. Paris considers the twins "hers" as any three year old would and wonders what to name them one minute then worrying about if they will be taking over her toy collection the next.

This is a fabulous story from the eyes of a child. My friend was recently expecting twin girls and has an older daughter. I gave her one of my 2 copies - one of the funniest things in the book was how Paris shared that she received numerous big sister gifts, including books about twins.

The book is light, humorous and simple so young children can relate to and understand the story line. Paris accurately captured the psychological roller coaster that small children experience when their immediate family structure will soon drastically change.
